CLASS and BLOCK OF THE MONTH (BOM)
Please call or stop by to register for classes and BOM’s as spaces are limited. Payment for class must be made when you register. 24 hour cancellation notice is required for a refund to be applied to next class. BOM have different time frames and you are expected to pick them on the scheduled date. No BOM block returns or refunds for cancellations.
CLASS MATERIALS LIST
Bring your machine, extra needles, pins, scissors, thread, rotary cutter, rulers, a small cutting mat and seam rippers, anything that you may use at home. Fabrics can be purchased the day of the class, or come by before class. This is your day out for some fun so bring your comforts from home. We also have a refrigerator if you want to bring your lunch or drinks. I want Quilt Heaven to be your home away from home.
January 15 –Sewing 101. This is the first of four beginning quilting classes to help you learn how to quilt, including use of tools, fabric, cutting, measuring, and sewing, quilting and binding. Each class will build your skills and confidence. At the end of the class you will have a finished table runner. Class date January 15, 16, 22, and 23. Class fee $40. Must bring a sewing machine to second class. If you cannot finish, you can join us on Thursday nights. Fabric and supplies extra, and can be purchased at the shop with a discount. 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Limited to 6 students.
January 19 - Midnight Sew –With all the holidays behind us, lets get some sewing time in. Bring your machine and whatever you need to make yourself comfortable for an evening of sewing. We will start at 2 pm and sew until midnight. Cost is $20 per person and limited to 16 people. Sign up early to save your spot.
January 26 – Mrs. Miller’s Apprentice Block of the Month (BOM) - New from Marcus and Pam Buda. This beautiful quilt, in blues and tans will become your favorite. This is a 12-month BOM and will be 24.98 per month. Limited spaces so call today. I will post a photo on Facebook.
February 16 – Five Yard Challenge -Yes, we are starting early this year. This is one of my favorite things to do. Many of you know how this works, I will chose 5 fabricsand make a bundle of 1-yard cuts. You will make a quilt using the 5 fabric. You get to choose the pattern and can add any fabric you want. Must be at least a lap size (can be bigger if you want), be able to see all five fabrics, be completed by October 1, and brought to the shop to be displayed during the Mystery Harvest Shop Hop. Quilters will vote on a Viewer’s Choice! It is amazing to see all the quilts hanging on the porch. Cost of the kit is $49.95.
February 21-24 – Cabin Fever Retreat. With winter in full swing, so lets snuggle in for some quilting. We will be adding extra day to this retreat. We will start at 9 am on Thursday and sew until 6 pm on Sunday. You will not be able to come in on Wednesday night as the park is closed Monday – Wednesday during the winter. We can check in on Thursday morning. Bring your favorite chair if you want and snack to share, but plan on having sew much fun you won’t want to leave. Cost is $30 for the weekend, does not include food or room. You will need all your sewing supplies, like rulers and cutters. We will make shop runs if you run out of anything.
March 2 – Easy Peasy 3-Yard Quilts. Ever wonder what to do with those beautiful 1-yard pieces of fabric you have collected? Pick out 3 and join us for this class and I will show you how you can turn those fabrics into works of art. This class is in conjunction with the Rowan County Regional Quilt Show. Cost is $20, includes book with 8 patterns. Limited to 10. 11 am - 4 pm.
March 16 – Rowan County Regional Quilt Show- Creating timeless Treasures. This quilt show only gets better each year. This year Toni Steere, with Wing and a Prayer Designs, fabric designer and national educator for Timeless Treasures, will conducting a workshop on Friday, March 15, and doing presentation on Saturday. The workshop on Friday has a fee and you must pre-register. For more information call Suzanne at 606-356-0477. We need your quilts to make this event a success. I am so proud of the work you all do and want to show off the talents in our area. The show will be held at the Morehead Conference Center. Quilt registration will be Friday, March 15 from noon- 6 pm. You can pre-register quilts by downloading the registration form from qheaven.com or picking the form up at the shop. If you want me to take your quilts, I must have them by noon, Thursday, March 14. Feel free to call for more information. Brochures will be available in January. It will be a sew much fun!
